Moises Denis filed for the newly created Assembly District 28 seat today,
saying family and education needs were his top legislative priorities.
"I
grew up in this district, went to school in this district, and I'm raising
my family in this district. This is where I've volunteered in school
activities, scouting and my church," Denis said. "For well
over twenty years, I've been hands-on in helping my community. I want
to take that commitment to the next step in the Nevada legislature."
The
41-year-old computer and technology specialist cited his practical experience
in addition to his volunteer service. Denis was the first Hispanic appointed
to the Clark County Library Board, and the first Hispanic to chair it.
He was appointed by both Governor Miller and Governor Guinn to the Nevada
Commission on Educational Technology, which he chaired. He served as
a member and chair of the Las Vegas Community Block Grant Committee.
"I
know from my own experience how to get things done," Denis stated.
"I have been a team member and a team leader working to solve problems.
I believe those skills and my knowledge of Assembly District 28 will
help me serve effectively."
Moises
Denis, known as Mo to his friends, is married to his college sweetheart,
Susan. The couple has four children and are expecting a fifth child
in July. Denis is a computer network technician for the Public Utilities
Commission where he keeps the complex computer system working. He has
been employed in the computer industry for more than 14 years.
